The spell first appears along with the magic-user in Men and Magic. Illusionists can also cast the spell, at a lower level. Dragon Magazine #12 preserved this spell on the Illusionist list, at 1st level.

The spell finds treasure secreted by an invisibility spell, and also invisible creatures.
