Dire Rats are massive rats nearly the size of a small cat. Like many dire animals, they are a mutant form of the original, grown large and cautios. They are often found amongst urban wastelands, feeding on anything smaller than themselves.

Combat

Dire rats are known to carry virulent diseases, and their plagues can bring entire towns to their knees. They are also dangerous to the old, sick, weak, and young in the city.

Relationships

Kobolds employ dire rats as beasts of burden and occasional guard animals, though the relationship is often tenuous .
