---|---|
Spell Level: 2 | Rarity: Very Rare |
Schools: Abjuration, Illusion/Phantasm | |
Components: V, S, M (a piece of bone and a spark or flame) | |
Range: 20 yds | Casting Time: 1 round |
Duration: 1 turn/lv | Saving Throw: Special |
Target: One creature |
When the spell is cast, the caster and the target each roll 1d20 and add their level. If the target's total is higher, a distorted image of a skull momentarily flashes into existence and then disappears. If the caster's total is higher, the image resolves into a grinning human skull with twinkling eyes. The skull stares at the target intently, unblinkingly, and occasionally moves its jaw as if to laugh.
The skull is little more than a distraction. It can mark an individual to be followed, and a creature may waste time and resources trying to attack it and get rid of it. It cannot be damaged, and reflects dispel magic spells back upon the caster. An antimagic shield, a minor globe of invulnerability, or any similar spell of 4th level or higher will end the spell, destroying the image.
