AKA: Cave Bear, Short-Faced Bear
Dire bears are immense, prehistoric bears, often infused with primal magic, or given to unusual mutations like sabre teeth. They are the biggest of the bears, the size of a small house, and some of the most savage.
Physical Appearance[]
Dire bears resemble their smaller cousins, but writ large and brutal, with specialized equipment for rending and devouring the biggest of animals in the regions where they live.
Ecology[]
There are few dire bears in any environments, and where they exist, few other predators can survive. The creatures are gluttonous, but, like many bears, spend much of their time sleeping, especially during the long snowy winter. When they awake hungry, they will devour whatever they can reach with gusto, which often includes entire villages of people who live in their lands.
