The greater spirit centipede is a four-foot-long centipede with a body of alternating bands of green, scarlet, and silver. It has the head of a bald human with a bushy moustache and nine eyes spaced evenly around its head. It is a poisonous, shape-changing creature that administers punishments on behalf of the Celestial Bureaucracy.

A greater spirit centipede can give a scale from its body freely, and, if kept in an earthenware jar in a building, it act as a charm of protection from disease.
