This spell bestows upon its recpient an illusory armor. To the bearer, it is invisible, and to others it appears as a ghostly , translucent armor. In either case, there is no sound or reflection associated with the armor.

The armor protects like chain mail (AC 5) and reduces the damage that does get through by 3 points. It also provides a +1 bonus to saving throws against any attack that normal magical armor would protect against.

The armor is only part of the spell effect, however: the bearer looks like they are shadowed by larger, impressively armored creatures standing behind them and moving with them. Creatures of low (2-7) Intelligence may flee at the danger this well-armored party presents, and more intelligent creatures may be disconcerted and may respect the protected creature more than they normally would.

Being made of shadow, the armor isn't something that can be disbelieved, but any effect that pierces illusions renders the armor's abilities null.

The spell is known to be found in the rare tome Selvar's Ineffible Conjurations, Magic, and Phantasms.
