The poisonous frog is a D&D representation of the various species of frogs with powerful contact poison in their skin. Touching or handling the frog in any way causes severe nausea, abdominal pain, and inflamation, and actually geting the poison into a wound causes paralysis, convulsions, and, in a few rounds, death.
The poison of the frog is sometimes extracted (via roasting the beast) and kept for hunting, or for more nefarious purposes.
