This spell restores the dead fully to life.

AD&D

Resurrection

Debuted in the Player's Handbook as a cleric spell.

Level: 7 School: Necromantic
Components: V, S, M (a religious symbol and sacred water)
Range: Touch Casting Time: 1 turn
Duration: Permanent Saving Throw: None
Target: Creature touched

Restores life to a creature (such as a dwarf, halfling, gnome, half-elf, or human) that has been dead up to 10 years per caster level. Using this spell weakens the caster so that they cannot perform any action other than bed rest for at least one day per level of the person resurrected.

Reverse

If the caster hits the target with a successful attack, they are utterly destroyed, reduced to dust. It likewise weakens the caster.

AD&D 2e

Resurrection
Spell Level: 7 Rarity: Common (Cleric)
Spheres: Necromantic (School: Necromancy)
Components: V, S, M (holy symbol and holy water)
Range: Touch Casting Time: 1 turn
Duration: Instantaneous Saving Throw: None
Target: The touched body

This miracle restores life and strength to any living creature (including elves), as long as they died within 10 years per caster level and some portion of the dead creature remains (the DM may impose a penalty to success if there is little left). If the character succeeds on the resurrection survival check, they are at full health and ready to perform strenuous activity instantly. The spell cannot bring back a creature who has died of old age or natural causes, and ages the caster 3 years. After casting this spell, the caster requires one day of bed rest for each experience level or Hit Dice of the resurrected creature.

The reverse of this spell is called destruction.
