AKA: Sabre-Toothed Tiger
The smilodon is an immense, heavily muscled predatory feline that specializes in killing large prey, such as branta or mammoths or dire elk. It disables its prey with its powerful claws, and then deals the killing blow with a bite that pierces the jugular and the windpipe of even the most massive creatures.
Smilodons hunt in prides, using their patterned fur to remain stealthy against the terrain. They leap at prey and use their claws to knock the prey down or over, harassing it and exhausting it over long distances. Once the prey is incapacitated, they deal their final attack -- a deep, piercing bite.
Smilodons mostly hunt large game, but have been known to include humanoids in their deit.
